Talon of the Silver Hawk (Conclave of Shadows #1) by Raymond E. Feist
Talon of the Silver Hawk
(Conclave of Shadows #1)
by Raymond E. Feist
2002 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6 / 10

Talon of the Silver Hawk is the first book of The Conclave of Shadows trilogy. In my opinion Talon of the Silver Hawk is a readable fantasy book. It's not the best Midkemia book, but it's better than the some of the recent Midkemia books, which is nice. I can recommend this book to Feist fans. Other fantasy readers may also enjoy this book. By the way, it would be a good idea to read the previous books before reading this book.

The Colour of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett
The Colour of Magic
(Discworld #1)
by Terry Pratchett
1983 | Fantasy, TV Series, Humor
★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8 / 10

I actually read this book (or more like half of it) in Finnish a long time ago and decided to give the Discworld another try in the original language. Although this fist novel of the series is relatively short book, it's not a fast read, at least if you want to catch all the jokes. And there's plenty. I never thought Death could be so funny. I would have given this maybe 3,5 stars if it was possible, but ended up choosing 4. I will bankrupt myself purchasing the rest of the series.

Into a Dark Realm (The Darkwar Saga #2) by Raymond E. Feist
Into a Dark Realm
(The Darkwar Saga #2)
by Raymond E. Feist
2006 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6 / 10

Into a Dark Realm is a readable fantasy book and you may either love or hate it depending on how you feel about Feist's Midkemia books. I liked this book, but I have to say that it's not the best Midkemia book. Whenever I've read a new Midkemia book, I've had high expectations that Feist would finally come up with something as good and entertaining as Magician or Silverthorn, but he never does. If you're a fan of Raymond E. Feist and like his fantasy books, you'll probably find this book interesting.

Flight of the Nighthawks (The Darkwar Saga #1) by Raymond E. Feist
Flight of the Nighthawks
(The Darkwar Saga #1)
by Raymond E. Feist
2005 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6 / 10

Many people have said that Flight of the Nighthawks is classic Feist, but I have to disagree with them. Flight of the Nighthawks is a nice and readable fantasy book and it features some familiar characters, but it's just not as good as Magician or Silverthorn, which is one of the best Midkemia books I've read. If you like Feist's books, you'll probably enjoy reading this book.

Shadow of a Dark Queen (The Serpentwar Saga #1) by Raymond E. Feist
Shadow of a Dark Queen
(The Serpentwar Saga #1)
by Raymond E. Feist
1994 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ 4 / 10

After reading the previous book from Feist (King's Buccaneer, part II of Krondor's Sons) and not liking it at all, I had serious doubts about this one. For a reader who has followed Feist through his previous series, this one offers little that is new. Although it is clear that this is not exactly a stand alone novel, the biggest problem was that I just didn't grow fond enough of the characters to care about what happens to them in the sequels. Feist tells bluntly what happens and why, not leaving much room for surprises. The narrating style makes me suspect that the author thinks his audience is a bit dense.. Shadow of a Dark Queen is not a terrible book (but not terribly good either) and kept me entertained enough to read all 500 pages of it.

by Robin Hobb
2007 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★★★★★ 10 / 10

Renegade's Magic is the third book of The Soldier Son Trilogy. Renegade's Magic is a good, interesting and well written conclusion to The Soldier Son Trilogy. Robin Hobb has written an excellent fantasy book, which I can recommend to all fantasy lovers. If you like Robin Hobb's books, you should read this book (and the previous books too). You'll love this book.

Forest Mage
(The Soldier Son Trilogy #2)
by Robin Hobb
2006 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★★★★★ 10 / 10

Forest Mage is the second book of The Soldier Son Trilogy. I love this book. This book has everything I want from good fantasy - it has depth, it's dark and it's fascinating. Robin Hobb sure knows how to write great fantasy books for adults. If you enjoyed reading Shaman's Crossing, you must read Forest Mage. Forest Mage is much better than Shaman's Crossing. You won't be disappointed with this book.

(Sword of Shadows #2)
by J. V. Jones
2002 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8 / 10

A Fortress of Grey Ice is the second book of the Sword of Shadows series. I enjoyed reading this book just as much as I enjoyed reading A Cavern of Black Ice. A Cavern of Black Ice
(Sword of Shadows #1)
by J. V. Jones
1999 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8 / 10

A Cavern of Black Ice is the first book of the Sword of Shadows series. I enjoyed reading A Cavern of Black Ice. It was a good and very entertaining fantasy book, which can be recommended for all fantasy fans. It was difficult to decide if I should give this book four or five stars, because this book isn't as good as some other fantasy books. I decided to give five stars, because A Cavern of Black Ice is fantasy entertainment at its best.

Master and Fool
(The Book of Words #3)
by J. V. Jones
1996 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8 / 10

Master and Fool continues the story which began in The Baker's Boy and A Man Betrayed. I liked this book very much. It's nice that there are fantasy writers who can write entertaining books. I know that J.V. Jones isn't George R.R. Martin, Steven Erikson or Robin Hobb, but her books are well written and very entertaining. I enjoy reading this kind of high fantasy. I can recommend this book (and the other books in this series) to all fantasy lovers.

★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8 / 10

A Man Betrayed is a charming fantasy book. It's a good and entertaining sequel to The Baker's Boy. I enjoyed reading A Man Betrayed, because it was well written and interesting. J.V. Jones is a good writer and she has written a fascinating book, which can be recommended to all fantasy readers.

The Barbed Coil by J. V. Jones
The Barbed Coil
by J. V. Jones
1997 | Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6 / 10

I was slightly disappointed with this book, because I thought it would be as fascinating as the other books (The Book of Words and Sword of Shadows). Although I was a bit disappointed, The Barbed Coil is a good fantasy book. It's not perfect, but it's good fantasy entertainment. One of the best things about this book is that it's a stand-alone book.

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle #1) by Patrick Rothfuss
The Name of the Wind
(The Kingkiller Chronicle #1)
by Patrick Rothfuss
2007 | Fantasy, High Fantasy, Epic Fantasy
★★★★★★★★★★ 10 / 10

The Name of the Wind is Patrick Rothfuss's debut novel which took (according to his own words) fourteen years to complete. It won the Quill Award 2007 in the category for SciFi/Fantasy/Horror. The author succeeds in telling an incredibly detailed story without being longwinded and creating a new, fresh and surprising world with different kind of magic . I love the style and the novel can handle re-reading (which I will definitely do). The Name of the Wind restored my passion and interest in fantasy genre after I abandoned it for few years. This novel could be recommended even for people who normally wouldn't pick up a fantasy book.

★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6 / 10

The Murder in LaMut is the second book of Legends of the Riftwar series. The Murder in LaMut is an entertaining fantasy book, but it's not as good as some of the other Midkemia books. This book book is a bit different kind of a Midkemia book, which is good. If you like Raymond E. Feist's books, you'll probably like this book.
