For the whole book I was waiting for something to grab my attention. Something to make interested. Something to start liking the main character. It didn't happen. The main character remained distant. Like skimming the water without getting in to it. Feelings were thin, so felt the other characters. The story also had long time jumps that distanced the feeling even further. It was long wait of "end already".

Certainly very different kind of scifi story from what we usually have. The details and society were quite interesting. The story however, I'm not that interested about a life of a spoiled rebellious teenager. The story without the society and tech part would be worth just two stars from me. If I would have been reading this instead of listening it as audio book, I would have never finished the story.

Shadowfell is young adult fantasy of a girl with gift. Although the story is mainly entertaining the plot of this book is quite simple. What makes the story is the tension game \"who can I trust\" and the magic of the story. At first I felt like that kind of magic has little use, but near the end I started to think that it has potential for imaginative mind.

Action backed book of witch in world with alternative history. Urban story of trying to get away from hitmen hired by your former employee. Quite ok concept, but I was constantly reminded of Butcher\'s Dresden files. The main elements were so similar that most of the time this only felt like female version of the wizard Dresden.

As exiting as reading a research paper!(well, to speak to the truth, I\'ve read more exiting research papers) I was hoping to read a story of space adventure and experience a good plot, but I was searching it from the wrong place. This book isn\'t about that. It doesn\'t have plot. It doesn\'t have real characters. It doesn\'t have real excitement. It\'s all about describing what an alien ship could look like and everything else in the book serves that purpose to the every annoying detail. Even when there were attempts of describing danger, the narrator would stop for moment and use paragraph do describe a technical detail efficiently killing the atmosphere.

I was wondering who this Nora Roberts is as I didn\'t remember reading any books from her. So to try, I chose the Blood Brothers as it seemed to have interesting enough idea. The idea was nice (though not original) and story begins nicely too. But then it turns it horrible harlequin novel, with predestined love and sex scenes. The fantasy plot goes to background as the main characters drool, fall in love and confess their love. All was told with great use of gender stereotypes. I was still hopeful that there\'s a cool end and action. But no, they\'ll bark at the evil a bit and the book ends there. And I\'m not interested to ready anymore.

I really do adore Hobb\'s books, but this one was quite a disappointment in her scale. Sure, we have dragons, trouble, people and nice details, but one thing that I\'m left missing is that something actually happens. All this book seems to be is a introduction to the main character\'s before the actual action starts. Prelude to bigger a story. But as a book it wasn\'t too exiting read. I hope the following part is more exiting.

I usually dislike alternative history, but after a recommendation I tried this book out. And I was happy to notice that instead of history lesson of Napoleon\'s war, we\'ll get a splendid story of growth and very deep friendship. It\'s also fascinating how the characters in the book have manners and ways of speaking of the period. Splendid again. I do recommend this book to anyone who can stand bit of history and lot\'s of dragons.

After the first book my expectations were high, but this book just isn\'t as good as the first one. Story is of growth and friendship is not the main thing, but an adventure. And I do not find the adventure itself to be as fulfilling as the first story. In time it\'s entertaining enough, but story itself focuses in different thing than in the first book.

Temeraire\'s story started really well, but after the first to book the glamor of new ideas start to loose it\'s gleam and the following stories just aren\'t as good as the first one that I really loved. While reading this book I though it had this feeling of how random the world is, but at the same time it felt like all these things happened just to fill the pages. Especially as I\'m not too interested in traveling nor war, this book had much less to give than the first of from this series.

The story was easy enough to get into. Couple in love who find a perfect lovenest but not everything is not what it seems to be. It all starts quite nicely, but after a while you'll start missing some action. There's lots of hints of what is about to come, but when it comes it's no suprise. There is a big end final, but meanwhile very little happens and book endings like this remind me of Twiligh book where all the action is backed to last pages after the few hundred boring ones. Readable yes, but the idea would have had much more potential than this.

Anansi Boys was a interesting suprise. It was more like magical realism than traditional high fantasy. Starting from reality the story deepens with elements of unreal. It's like suddenly noticing normal things that were not so normal after all. And how separate old African stories become essential part of the story. To improve the quality of reading, please do not read the back cover. It tells too much about the story.
