Japan in the year 2068 lives in chaos. Every city and town is ruled by violent gangs. Rising from the darkness is the Knights' Essence Foundation, a secret order powered by nano-infused blood with the ability to wield the primal elements. The foundation has a fragile new hope of restoring order. The new recruits of Generation Three are from the Rudimental Foundation.

That's the good news. The bad news: the notorious "Class of Disorderly Conduct" is among them.

Under the relentless spotlight of Sensei Kazuma Shima's glare, the class battles with trauma-marred histories: Yai, previously paralysed from her trauma and lack of skills, gets dragged into the fray with the threat of making the Aether Blacklist. The Aether Blacklist: a list to which even the mightiest knights are exiled to, denied payment, and occasionally disappear without a trace. Kyosuke fights an insidious void of fear and patrols the streets to keep from losing his sanity. Katsumi, the model child who wants to satisfy his parents with utmost prowess, can't keep his head when he is forced to do something he never wants to do ever again.
