The wrong kind of summer fling...

While my cousins were born for the spotlight, I was born for the infirmary. Give me bandages, potions, and a quiet day with my toes in the sand. Unfortunately, Zuriel and the other angels have made plans for me.

Plans that include turning me into the warrior I never wanted to be before the end of summer. Because nothing says warrior development like training in ninety-degree heat. What’s worse is my cousins have decided my destiny also includes the perfect match.

Now I’m being ambushed by a string of blind dates at ice cream shops, rooftop bars, and one aggressive beach picnic. I have no idea what any of these guys look like, which makes avoiding them a strategic act. Duck behind a cabana? Done. Fake a potion emergency? Absolutely. Dive into the rip tide? If necessary.

Desperate, I strike a bargain with the only person who seems to pity me, the infuriatingly calm bartender who just moved to Megelle Island. The deal: I help him and others of his kind find a place to settle down and he helps me dodge suitors and attempt to salvage what’s left of my peaceful summer. But the more I run from the “perfect” matches chosen for me, the more I start wanting the bartender no one would approve of.

I’ve only ever played it safe.

But for him… I might risk the heat.
