The Winged Assassin

Catherine Cooke

The sleeping Goddess dreamed of a perfect lover, a man whose beauty and strength would feed her own. And so she caused Arris to be born, and raised believing he was the son of the Goddess's enemy, among the people who had crushed her empire, so that one day she might strike back with Arris at her side.

Arris did not intend to be a mere pawn in the war between goddesses and gods. He had his own war to fight, his own vengeance to seek, his own powers to use - if he could, if he dared.

Arris was a dream in the mind of the sleeping Goddess. But what would happen when she woke, and claimed him for her own?
