Dumped in an alleyway as a baby and raised in one of the most vicious inner cities this country has to offer, Michael Edwards' life changed forever when he acquired Earth powers and heard the words, “The Storm is Coming.” He trained those powers, forged a team with the other Junior Supers, and took down a vicious criminal. Then, he disappeared to hunt down the remains of that creature's gang on his own.
Now, he's back in New York City. Not only is he looking for justice—no, vengeance—for what was done to his mother, but he also seeks the inheritance that's his due.
Blocking the path to Michael's inheritance is The Society, a secret organization which runs most of the world and can best be described as pure evil. No teenage boy alive could possibly hope to bring down The Society on his own. Except, perhaps, for one Michael Edwards, aka Stone Tactical, aka Boogie Knight.

The series
Shadow’s Path explores what happens when power arrives without warning and offers no clean way out. Set in a contemporary world that feels uncomfortably close to our own, the series follows a young man shaped by neglect, violence, and survival long before extraordinary abilities enter his life. When those abilities emerge, they do not bring clarity or heroism. They bring attention, danger, and the slow realization that unseen forces are already watching.

The story unfolds in shadows rather than spotlights. Urban environments feel heavy with threat, institutions are opaque and predatory, and trust is a rare currency. The series leans into the darker edges of superhero science fiction, grounding its speculative elements in social realism, moral ambiguity, and personal consequence. Power here is physical, psychological, and political, and every use of it pushes the characters further down a path that is difficult to leave once chosen.
What gives the series its weight is its focus on internal struggle as much as external conflict. Identity, revenge, loyalty, and control are constant pressures, especially for a protagonist who never had the luxury of safety or guidance. Action scenes are sharp and purposeful, but they always serve the larger question running beneath the surface, what kind of person survives when the world rewards ruthlessness. Written with a blunt, unsentimental tone characteristic of John Ringo, Shadow’s Path offers a tense, grounded take on superpowered fiction that favors consequences over wish fulfillment and leaves readers uneasy in the best possible way.
