Ali Falco and the Siena detective team face a killer striking during Siena’s historic Palio Horse Race.

The town is swept up in passion-fueled tradition pitting neighborhood against neighborhood, rider against rider, as they defy death riding bareback on the dangerous track ringing the Piazza del Campo.

But when an exciting and controversial young jockey and a rich businesswoman show up dead, Ali and her team find themselves caught in a dangerous case where literally thousands have motive to kill.

Bribery. Corruption. Violence among ancient rivals. These are just as much part of the tradition as the deadly race track itself. And when Ali comes across a lead pointing toward to the heart of the danger, she’ll need to tread carefully, or she’ll be the next to die.
