An investigation unearths a wide market for stolen gold that a dealer then carries to Miami. When that dealer turns up dead, Special Agent Stella Knox learns that the funds raised by the sale of the stolen goods has found its way into the local real estate industry. And that the bad guy is a corrupt Miami real estate investor who’s part of Stella’s stepfather’s business circle. Which makes her stepfather a suspect.
The investor is competing for a big project but knows his rival has invested in a chain of jewelry stores that’s quietly fencing stolen goods. If he can cut the flow of gold to the stores, he can put his rival out of business. For good.
