St Mary's is back - new and improved. More pods. More staff. And an ambitious programme of jumps from Ancient Egypt to the death of a medieval king. Surely, this can only add to the prestige of the Institute of Historical Research.

Sadly, Max's recent adventures with the Time Police have brought St Mary's to the attention of someone from the future. Someone cruel and ambitious - and very much aware of everything that St Mary's has to offer.

And if that's not enough, a certain historian is about to shatter the cardinal rule of St Mary's - never mess with History. With the Time Police camped on the doorstep, it's up to Max to conceal the crime, locate the culprit, bury the evidence, muddy the issue and somehow get History back on track.
