The Casere

The Gyden: A Collection of Short Stories from The Casere Series

Michael O'Neill

Conn MacLeod, a retired highly decorated British Army Major, has "inherited" a method of passing from this dimension (21st Century Earth) to another; one that is a lot like 9th Century Europe (although it is definitely NOT 9th Century Europe!). With thirty years of planning and preparation for the "trip", it doesn't take him long to utilize his extensive knowledge and extraordinary skills - and the not insignificant amount of gold that he takes with him - to reshape the world that he had just "inherited" into one of his own making.

Wouldn't you?

This story is being told in a four part series called "The Casere". The first two volumes are now available on Amazon as eBooks (and maybe sometime in 2015 as novels). The already published books are The AEBELING and THE EAORL. Part 3, THE MARQUIS, will come out later this year, with the final chapter in 2106.

This book is THE GYDEN, Chapter One, first in a collection of short stories told in first person by a number of the minor but essential characters in the books. They are designed to fill in gaps in the back story, and to get another perspective. I will endeavour to add more when I can. I intend to have them available free but I haven't found a war yet. When I can will be free until such time as they constitute a proper book in size.

A warning - they will be out of sequence and have more "adult" content compared to my other books.

18+ recommended.

The first chapter is "Elva and Fainche, 874"; told by Elva before and after she inadvertently becomes a hostage in Rakiak.

The second might be Fainche and her kidnapping to Cyme some years earlier. If there is a particular event you are interested in, please contact me on my WordPress site: thecasere.wordpress.com

Michael O'Neill is a high school teacher from Queensland, Australia, who has had a life long fascination with the world of Science Fantasy - starting from his introduction to the genre by J.R.R. Tolkien's books. His favorite books remain the Belgariad series written by David Eddings. Deciding to take up the mantle himself, he started writing his own book - one volume that has turned into an epic - and now with a planned sequel and two prequels, it will extend to seven volumes. 'The Aebeling' is part one of 'The Casere'; part two. 'The Eaorl', will follow soon. His other interest include horse racing and genealogy.
