About the Book
Lethal paradise...
It lies at the foot of a space elevator 200 miles below the sky city of Silk: Deception Well - a lush tropical world consuming all who reach its alluring surface. Ten years ago fiery prophet Jupiter Apolinario stormed Silk with his fanatical followers, determined to reach Deception Well. There, they believed they would find not destruction but ecstatic communion. Yet in the resulting battle with Silken security forces, many of the cult members died - as did, by all accounts, Jupiter himself.
Eighteen-year-old Lot, Jupiter's son, has spent the intervening years as a prisoner/ward of the Silken authorities. Now he sets out to learn the truth about his father's fate and about the real nature of Deception Well. And in doing so, he will discover the terrifying secrets of a dying city, his own disturbing calling as a charismatic prophet, and the razor-thin line between bliss and damnation.
