Bud Sparhawk
John C. "Bud" Sparhawk (born 1937) is an American science fiction author. He is best known for the strong scientific basis for his work, and also his humorous science fiction, in particular his Sam Boone series of short fiction.

This novel is composed of five novellas, including the Nebula Award "Primrose and Thorn" its sequel and three more that follow Louella and Pascal as they race their high-tech sailboats on Earth, Jupiter and finally, Mars.
