About the Turtle Knight story, Brian says, "I have long been fascinated with stories within stories. It’s this classical layering upon which I think memorable fantasies, the type of stories that become mythology, are built. Here, I set out to tell you a story in which the protagonist, the Turtle Knight, tells stories, and within those stories there are still more stories. Not to mention all the stories that are hinted at but never told! (Give me time.) And I wanted to write an atypical yet definitive love story, something quintessential yet original, timeless and classic yet wholly my own. Of course, I also wanted the story to be fun.
