Gunner Cade

Originally serialised in Astounding Science Fiction in 1952, the story is set in a stagnant society 10,000 years in the future where science has been banned. Cade is a member of a monastic sect of soldiers used by the authorities to maintain order, he is captured by rebels and ultimately ends up fighting against the established order.
