Manhattan Transfer

When Manhattan — and everyone on it — is kidnapped into space by some unknown alien force, the humans trapped on the island are faced with a baffling (and terrifying) enigma. A new artificial dawn reveals that the city is encased in a bubble — resting on a vast plain, surrounded by dozens of other bubbles containing a multitude of alien cultures. Is this some sort of cosmic zoo exhibit, part of a scientific experiment?

Or perhaps fresh groceries?

As the humans attempt to break out of their prison, to make some sense out of their new world and communicate with other civilizations on the plain, they soon discover that their kidnappers aren't the aliens they really have to worry about...
