Buster Callan

Buster Callan was also published as The Poacher.

Tough Vermont backwoodsman Buster Callan and former New York journalist Dave Stern are on a collision course. Dave makes the fatal error of accidentally shooting Buster's dog. Dave's hide is only saved when Buster's girlfriend Peggy runs out of Buster's cabin buck naked. Buster and Peggy get it on, giving Dave the chance to escape.

And that's just the beginning of BUSTER CALLAN.

"You know you're in for a rugged ride when... Buster Callan washes and boils his clothes clean, then rubs them down with cow dung before going off deer hunting with his beloved dogs, Storm Trooper and Ace, in this taut reworking of McNaughton's 1978 novel... McNaughton's gleefully grotesque characters and situations should keep faithful fans turning the pages." – Publishers Weekly
