Still imprisoned by the Twisted Symmetry, Box's natural talents soon catches the eye of General Vane, leader of the Dog Trooper, who sees potential in him for his own devious plans. Increasingly deluded, Splinter's obsession with the Symmetry is such that he will do anything to be an Inquisitor, a master of the multiverse – even betray those closest to him.

Elsewhere, Chess must find the Eternal if she wants to discover her true heritage and put a stop to the Symmetry's machinations. But with Splinter helping them, the Symmetry now have everything they need, not only to capture the elusive Chess.
