Legacy continues exactly where the first part, Beguilement ended and is not really a stand alone novel so I would recommend reading (or listening) the first part before taking up this one.
I listened both parts while doing household work, jogging, working etc. and didn't have any problems following the story. The language is clear, crisp and flowing, plot well paced and not too twisting for a relaxing read.
I would label these novels as romantic fantasy. Most of the time the reader/listener follows conflicts between people and they ways of life instead of battles against fantastic monsters.
Enjoyable, if not extraordinary.
