April digs classic movies, redheaded villians, big kitchens, and discussing murder at dinner table. She and her husband — a librarian, former rare-book dealer, and journalist — live in Bend, Oregon, at the edge of the forest, where the air smells like pine, and coyotes can be heard howling at night.
