Wes Markin

Wes Markin is a bestselling British crime author and creator of the DCI Yorke novels set in Salisbury, the Yorkshire Murders series featuring the unflinching DCI Emma Gardner, and the dark, haunting Whitby’s Forgotten Victims books led by DCI Frank Black. His twist-filled stories blend gritty realism with emotional depth, exploring how ordinary lives are shattered by extraordinary crimes against the atmospheric backdrops of Salisbury, North Yorkshire and the wild North Sea coast. Now the author of more than twenty-five novels across multiple series, Wes lives in Harrogate with his wife and two children, not far from some of his fictional murder scenes

Outside my writing...

Outside my writing, I’m happiest spending time with my family and switching off with a stack of records on the turntable. When I’m not plotting grisly murders, you’ll usually find me walking, recharging by the coast or in the countryside, hunting down good coffee, or gathered around a table for a fiercely competitive board game. I’ve also got a lifelong soft spot for horror movies—there’s nothing like a good scare on screen to spark new ideas for the page.
