Maria J. Pérez Cuervo

Maria is a freelance writer and editor whose work revolves around art, culture, myth, and mystery. She’s the founder and editor of HELLEBORE, a small press devoted to folklore, folk horror, magic and the occult in Britain, for which she was a finalist at the World Fantasy Awards in 2022. HELLEBORE was also shortlisted at the British Fantasy Awards 2024 in the category of Best Magazine/Periodical.

Maria’s work has appeared in Fortean Times, Indicator, Radiance Films, Severin Films, Mental Floss, The Order of The Good Death, The Daily Grail’s Darklore and Spirits of Place, and The Ghastling, among others. She’s been a guest speaker at various events at British Library, Williamson’s Art Gallery, Watkins Books, The Stone Club, South West Silents and Tate Britain.
