Kate Pearsall

Kate Pearsall crafts stories where mystery, folklore, and the complexities of family intertwine, creating young adult fiction that lingers long after the final page. She first captured readers’ attention with Bittersweet in the Hollow, a haunting tale set in the secluded Appalachian town of Caball Hollow. The novel explores the lives of four sisters with extraordinary abilities, navigating secrets, supernatural forces, and the shadows of their family’s past. Pearsall’s writing draws readers into richly atmospheric landscapes, where forests, festivals, and hidden corners of small-town life become characters themselves, shaping the choices and courage of her protagonists.

Raised with a curiosity for the unusual and the overlooked, Pearsall brings that inquisitiveness into her writing, weaving local lore, folklore, and subtle magic into her narratives. Her stories balance suspense and emotional depth, showing how personal bonds are tested by fear, discovery, and the unknown. Through her work, readers experience young adult fiction that is as emotionally resonant as it is thrilling, blending paranormal mystery, coming-of-age challenges, and evocative settings into one immersive journey.

Bittersweet in the Hollow earned recognition from the young adult community, including placement on the 2024 YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults list, and her follow-up, Lies on the Serpent’s Tongue, continues to explore the rich world of Caball Hollow. Pearsall’s storytelling stands out for its ability to combine atmospheric tension, character-driven narratives, and folklore-infused adventure, making her a distinctive voice in contemporary YA fiction.

Her work appeals to readers drawn to paranormal suspense, atmospheric fantasy, and stories where family, courage, and mystery intersect, offering immersive experiences that are both haunting and unforgettable.
