Her work transports readers into the heart of the wild, both literal and emotional, often with themes of survival, courage, and self-discovery.

Born in London and raised across Europe, Rundell’s experiences in far-flung places have deeply influenced her writing. From the forests of Sweden to the vibrant streets of Paris, her travels have given her a profound appreciation for the world’s diverse cultures and landscapes. This eclectic background shines through in her books, especially in titles like The Girl Savage and The Wolf Wilder, where readers are swept into rich, atmospheric settings that feel as much like characters as the humans within them.

Rundell’s writing is often compared to the classics of children’s literature, but her voice is entirely her own—bold, lyrical, and full of a deep empathy for her young protagonists. Her novels tend to feature fiercely independent characters who are drawn into extraordinary circumstances, where their survival and moral courage are put to the test.
