Conspiracy of Angels

Conspiracy of Angels

Michelle Belanger

4/10Written Dec 12, 2015

I'm usually into these kind of books with main (male) character being the sexy badass, but there was just something missing. The plot was fast paced, all with action, but never really stopped to take a breath, so you were waiting for something "totally awesome" to happen - and it never did.

Laughter and tears (oh, yes, there's tears...) for all BDB fans.

Blood Magick

BOOK REVIEW

Blood Magick

Nora Roberts

4/10Written Oct 11, 2015

I really liked Roberts Circle trilogy and thus O'Dwyer series has been such a big dissappointmet for me. Too often I found myself bored as the text and plot lacked the spark, passion and wit. I kind of got the feeling that Roberts wrote this series just because the genre is so "in" nowadays. Such a pity...

Preacher: Book Two

BOOK REVIEW

Preacher: Book Two

Steve Dillon, Garth Ennis

10/10Written Jul 6, 2015

Preacher has it all; grotesque action, horror, humor, depth - and most of all: style to tell the story. This is why I read for!

Best comic I've read in ages! Interesting plot and fascinatingly twisted characters. Absolutely awesome!

The Bane Chronicles

BOOK REVIEW

The Bane Chronicles

Sarah Rees Brennan, Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson

9/10Written Apr 4, 2015

Very rewarding collection about Magnus Bane, filling some of the storyline gaps for both Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices, like how Magnus originally met Camille and Raphael Santiago, his friendship's (or not so frienfly relations) to various Shadowhunter and Downworlders families and how he got mixep up in the war with Valentine.

My personal favorites of the collection were: What Really happened in Peru -because Duh!, What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And Who You're Not Officially Dating Anyway) - Magnus pondering over Alec's birthday gift, The Last Stand of the New York Institute is where Valentine comes in and finally The Course of True Love (And First Dates) - hilarious disaster of Magnus' and Alec's first date, for this alone the book was worth every penny!

The Maze Runner

BOOK REVIEW

The Maze Runner

James Dashner

7/10Written Jan 2, 2015

Balanced somewhere between Hunger Games & Lord of the flies Maze Runner leaned more towards Flies, which imo is a very good thing. I've read these dystopian novels, each telling the same story over and over again of rebel teenagers fighting the system. At least Dashner brings something different to the genre; A bit of darkness instead of sugarcoating.

Dark Witch

BOOK REVIEW

Dark Witch

Nora Roberts

6/10Written Oct 22, 2014

Some years ago I read Roberts Circle fantasy trilogy and really loved it, so I was hoping this new series would be as good or even better.
Sadly, it seems it's not. Dark Witch was not specifically bad, but it was lacking the tempo and catchiness of the Circle trilogy.
Even with the fantasy elements of the story I thought the text was more like Roberts ordinary romance novel type than fantasy. (That is pure guess though, since I haven't actually read any of her romance novels)

I'm hoping more "witchy" in the two sequels and less "ordinary".
