The Graces

BOOK REVIEW

The Graces

Laure Eve

6/10Written Jan 19, 2017

Starting of as a yet another "Twilight copy" The Graces surprises by being something else. Yes, it's a cliché when a girl, shy of course, moves into a new school and falls for the school best looking bad boy and his rich family. But as it turn out, Rivers motives to get to know Fenrin and the rest of the Graces family is something darker than teenage love.

The Graces is not perfect, it has some annoying teen tantrum, but it brings a fresh breeze to genre.

A Head Full of Ghosts

Paul Tremblay

5/10Written Jan 8, 2017Edited Jan 8, 2017

Bit of a disapointment. After reading Stephen King's praise for the book I thought I was in for some really chilling treat, but instead I got a version of the Exorcist - though the ending was something I did not expect, thus the extra half a star. Not actually bad book, but unsurprising until the end.

Fairest: Levana's Story

BOOK REVIEW

Fairest: Levana's Story

Marissa Meyer

7/10Written Nov 7, 2016

It was a bit hard to start reading this after all that has happened in the parts 1-3 of Lunar Chronicles. Yet Fairest is an intresting one once you give it chance. It doesn't make you love Levana, but helps you understand her bit better.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

BOOK REVIEW

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany

8/10Written Nov 4, 2016

I liked this. The fact that the book is written as a play didn't bother me, but you could easily tell this isn't Rowlings text. Knowledge of the familiar characters was seemingly different of the "real Potters".

Hope and Red

BOOK REVIEW

Hope and Red

Jon Skovron

9/10Written Nov 4, 2016

Occationally grotesk, yet very compelling.
Great leading charachters, straightfoward storytelling with a hint of Pirates of Caribbean vibe on plot. Sea related slang also gives a nice touch to the story.

The High Ground

Good, bit old school military space opera.

The Bronze Key

BOOK REVIEW

The Bronze Key

Holly Black, Cassandra Clare

7/10Written Oct 3, 2016Edited Oct 11, 2016

Bronze key has been darkest part in the series so far and show's proof that none of the charachters, friend or foe, is safe.

Preacher: Book Six

BOOK REVIEW

Preacher: Book Six

Steve Dillon, Garth Ennis

10/10Written Sep 10, 2016

Words can't describe what a amazing journey it has been traveling along with Jesse, Tulip & Cassidy. Truly compelling, Preacher is one of these rare stories that make you feel regret 'cause you'll never be able to read them again "for the first time."

Nicely paced & actionfilled plot. Especially the last half of the book was quite gripping!

Excellent choice for all who love to read fairytale bound stories. E.g Marissa Meyers Lunar Chronicles.

Insurgent

BOOK REVIEW

Insurgent

Veronica Roth

4/10Written Aug 13, 2016

Would it kill the writers to actually make a female lead without all the moping and martyr attitude, even when the lead is a teenager?

I mean with just a little bit more brain powers for Tris and the book would have been better just by leaving half of the annoyance away.

The Beast

The Beast

J. R. Ward

Guaranteed joy for all BDB fans as Rhage struggles the questions of meaning and need of family.
