A Cavern of Black Ice

J. V. Jones

8/10Written Nov 26, 2007

A Cavern of Black Ice is the first book of the Sword of Shadows series.

I enjoyed reading A Cavern of Black Ice. It was a good and very entertaining fantasy book, which can be recommended for all fantasy fans.

It was difficult to decide if I should give this book four or five stars, because this book isn't as good as some other fantasy books. I decided to give five stars, because A Cavern of Black Ice is fantasy entertainment at its best.

Master and Fool

BOOK REVIEW

Master and Fool

J. V. Jones

8/10Written Nov 26, 2007Edited Nov 26, 2007

Master and Fool continues the story which began in The Baker's Boy and A Man Betrayed.

I liked this book very much. It's nice that there are fantasy writers who can write entertaining books. I know that J.V. Jones isn't George R.R. Martin, Steven Erikson or Robin Hobb, but her books are well written and very entertaining. I enjoy reading this kind of high fantasy.

I can recommend this book (and the other books in this series) to all fantasy lovers.

The Barbed Coil

BOOK REVIEW

The Barbed Coil

J. V. Jones

6/10Written Nov 26, 2007

I was slightly disappointed with this book, because I thought it would be as fascinating as the other books (The Book of Words and Sword of Shadows).

Although I was a bit disappointed, The Barbed Coil is a good fantasy book. It's not perfect, but it's good fantasy entertainment. One of the best things about this book is that it's a stand-alone book.

Night of Knives

BOOK REVIEW

Night of Knives

Ian C. Esslemont

8/10Written Nov 25, 2007

Night of Knives is the first book of The Malazan Empire series.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was entertaining and well written. This book isn't as good as Steven Erikson's magnificent books, but it's worth reading.

If you like Steven Erikson's books, you might want to try this book.

Murder in LaMut

Raymond E. Feist, Joel Rosenberg

6/10Written Nov 25, 2007

The Murder in LaMut is the second book of Legends of the Riftwar series.

The Murder in LaMut is an entertaining fantasy book, but it's not as good as some of the other Midkemia books. This book book is a bit different kind of a Midkemia book, which is good.

If you like Raymond E. Feist's books, you'll probably like this book.
