Rachel Renée Russell is the beloved author behind the wildly popular Dork Diaries series, which has captured the hearts of millions of readers around the world. Known for her humorous, relatable, and heartwarming stories, Rachel brings to life the trials and triumphs of Nikki Maxwell, a teen navigating middle school with her signature awkward charm.
Born in the United States, Rachel’s childhood was filled with a love for storytelling, though she didn't initially set out to become an author. After graduating from law school, she worked as a lawyer before ultimately following her true passion for writing. It was during her time as a mother, watching her own children grapple with the ups and downs of adolescence, that Rachel began writing stories she felt would resonate with young readers. This led to the creation of Nikki and her friends—a cast of characters who embody the challenges, dreams, and occasional embarrassments of growing up.
Dork Diaries is more than just a humorous coming-of-age series; it’s an exploration of friendship, self-acceptance, and perseverance. Through Nikki’s journaling, readers gain insight into her thoughts, feelings, and personal growth, all while laughing at the hilarious and sometimes cringe-worthy moments that come with being a teen. Rachel’s ability to blend humor with poignant life lessons has made the series a go-to for tweens and teens alike, and it’s earned a place on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Rachel’s writing style is refreshingly honest and utterly relatable, striking a balance between lighthearted fun and meaningful reflection. Whether it’s through Nikki’s battle with school drama or her quirky, often hilarious family, Rachel’s work resonates deeply with readers who see themselves in Nikki’s ups and downs.
Away from the page, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and, naturally, doodling. Her books have inspired not just laughter but confidence in young readers, reminding them that it’s okay to be different and that even the dorkiest moments can lead to the most memorable and meaningful experiences.
Rachel Renée Russell continues to be a powerful voice in children’s literature, and her works inspire readers to embrace their individuality and celebrate the uniqueness of their own stories.

I’ve been thinking the same thing and I haven’t found any information about there being a max crumbly book 4. At this point im thinking the author just gave up.
Well I hope she didn't because it is a hit series, and she still continues writing the dork diary series. I don't know if this is the reason, but she might be taking awhile because of the whole covid-19 period, which could've caused her to stop writing for awhile. Anyways I hope she does realise the book soon.
I’ve been thinking the same thing and I haven’t found any information about there being a max crumbly book 4. At this point im thinking the author just gave up.
I’m sure Rachel Renee Russell is busy and I noticed even the sixteenth book seemed kind of rushed if I’m gonna be honest but overall it was funny and I enjoyed Brianna’s perspective.
If Rachel doesn’t announce anything about the Max Crumbly series after the seventeenth book then it’ll be like, what the hell?
The Misadventures of Max Crumbly books are already hard to find in real life so maybe the series was dropped? I mean, It’s not easy trying to make books left and right.
Rachel is most likely putting full focus in to the Dork Diaries books, and fair play I can’t blame her.
But all I can say is, it would be such a shame if she would cancel the Max Crumbly books. They’re very fun to read and it’s nice to read from a different perspective in the Dork Diaries universe.
