Deborah Munro is a mechanical and biomedical engineer with extensive experience in the orthopedic implant and medical device industry. In addition to her engineering career, she has also served as an engineering professor. Despite her strong background in the sciences, Deborah has always maintained a fervent passion for writing.
Deborah's journey as an author encountered a significant delay as life took her on various paths. However, in 2014, she took a pivotal step by applying and being accepted into Stanford's Online Writing Certificate program. Joining a cohort of 45 aspiring writers, she embarked on a transformative educational journey. Through a series of courses and rigorous training, Deborah diligently honed her writing skills. She emerged from the program as a proud graduate, armed with a completed manuscript for her novel, "APEX." The manuscript underwent several major revisions, gradually evolving into the compelling sci-fi thriller it is today. While there is still work to be done, the novel is now beginning to take its final shape.
Deborah draws inspiration from the realms of science, technology, and innovation. Her commitment to authenticity and plausibility in her writing is evident in the extensive research she has conducted to ensure that all the scientific elements in her novel are accurate. She has taken on the role of a diligent sleuth, ensuring that the facts remain impeccable and satisfying even her own curiosity. Her connection to the state of Oregon, which she called home from 2008 to 2018, has deeply influenced her work. Currently, Deborah resides in the picturesque city of Christchurch, New Zealand, embarking on a new and exciting chapter in her life.
